Andrew Murphy

Executive Director

Andrew (he/they) is a passionate nonprofit leader, community organizer, civil rights activist, and communications expert with significant experience in the social justice impact, policy/advocacy, and education sectors. He was the primary author and coalition leader behind the “Everyone Counts” resolution, a nationally recognized civil rights achievement instituting data disaggregation policies for all students and employees of color in the nation’s second-largest school district. Andrew has a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Louisville, a Master’s in Education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, a Master’s in International Studies from Seoul National University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice at Loyola Marymount University.

Originally born in Seoul, Andrew is an immigrant, adoptee, queer, gender fluid, first-generation college graduate raised in a working-class Western Kentucky family. In their spare time, Andrew is an avid movie-goer and regular concert-attender who is passionate about culture, diverse representation, the performing arts, and supporting local artists. He is inspired by youth activism and those working to make the world more just and equitable. Andrew finds joy in family and close friends, international travel, and Laker and Dodger championships. Their cultural diet includes hip hop and R&B, reggaeton, EDM, and everything Korean media (Kpop, Kdramas, and Korean movies).
