Civic Engagement Project Manager (Contract, Part Time)

Overview 

The Civic Engagement Project Manager will support Harness staff in overseeing our 2022 civic engagement project timelines, keeping Harness staff and contractors on schedule, organizing timelines and files, and ultimately ensuring the organization meets its project milestones. The ideal candidate will have project management experience in the creative industry (content production) as well as strong work plan development and progress oversight skills. Though the Project Manager will help oversee work plans for the organization’s entire civic engagement plans, they will spend most of their time managing timelines and deliverables for content production and social media teams for content distribution.  They will be expected to prepare and present progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis, ensuring the goals we seek are being achieved. Time commitment: Part Time (approximately 20 hours/week)

Location: Remote (Anywhere in the U.S.)
Reports To: Senior Communications Manager
Anticipated Start Date: July 18, 2022
Anticipated End Date: November 30, 2022
Compensation: $3,000/month Retainer

Deliverables

  • Lead project from including identifying schedules, scopes, and project implementation plans, including risk mitigation
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with staff from various departments
  • Analyze project progress and, when necessary, adapt scope, timelines, and costs to ensure that project team adheres to project requirements
  • Take accurate notes and implement action items into organization’s project management software
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate contractors, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes
  • Monitor and assign resources appropriately to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs
  • Obtaining team/partner approvals of project deliverables
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels as needed—escalating issues as necessary based on project work plan
  • Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues
  • Participate in weekly staff meeting and regular Programs meetings

Requirements

Must Haves
  • Minimum 3 years of campaign/project experience
  • Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines
  • Experience developing in-house platforms for internal processes
  • Excellent copy editing skills
  • Experience managing content creators/production teams/contractors
  • Excellent organizational, planning and scheduling skills
  • Demonstrates deep understanding, passion and alignment with the Harness mission
Nice To Haves
  • Experience working with content production teams
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector, social movements and/or politics
  • Experience with Asana or other project management softwares
  • Comfortable working with a remote team and aware of strategies to excel in this environment
